Efficacy of different insecticides against the yellow stem borer (<i>Scirpophaga incertulus</i> Walker) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) in spring rice cultivation

The Yellow Stem Borer (YSB), Scirpophaga incertulas Walker, (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) is a devastating pest that significantly affects the yield of spring rice crops. Insecticides have been primary method used to control YSB, but comparative efficacy studies different insecticides against YSB in Nepalese production systems are limited. This study aimed investigate seven insecticide treatments on Hardinath-1 variety during period February June 2022. A Randomized Complete Block Design was employed, and evaluated by monitoring mean values dead hearts white heads, recorded at intervals post-treatment. results showed Chlorantraniliprole 18.5SC (0.4 ml/l) Chlorpyriphos 20EC (2.0 were most effective treatments, as they outperformed all other not only terms controlling heart head also their effect yield. plants treated with 18.5 SC 20 EC 3.31 t/ha 3.24 t/ha, respectively. These suggest application these two can provide protect from damage caused head. However, despite positive obtained this study, it important note tested needs be larger scale, well ecological regions.
